Title of the Contest:
aniMOweb (site www.animoweb.it)

What the contest is about:
web interactive animations about an assigned theme with Macromedia Flash
or Director Shockwave format files; 3 sections in the contest, 1 for
“animated intros”, 1 for “games or highly interactive applications”, 1
for "short animated films".

Contest Organizers:
Modena Province - Italy.

Aims of the Contest:
to encourage the application of web and management information systems
technologies to artistic creation and Internet software programming; to
advertise the authors or the companies taking part in the contest; to
obtain works suitable for the web audience in order to promote the
assigned themes; to confirm the encouraging results of 2002 edition in
creating an interesting cultural event.

Periodicity of the Contest:
annual or at least biennial.

Target:
the Contest is international. It is aimed at Internet developers'
communities that usually employ Macromedia Flash or Director Shockwave
software. However, the contest is open to everybody.

Theme of 2003 Edition:
Environment: virtues and vices for animated intros and games or highly
interactive applications, Air pollution for animated short films
Prizes: budget of € 7800 for a total of 12 prizes, audience prize (i.e.
decided by Internet voters) included.

Reference site:
www.animoweb.it in Italian and English. The site is the “pivot” of the
contest. It provides all necessary information on how to participate
(regulation, guidelines, application form, faq, ...) how to vote, etc....
All the movies participating in the previous edition concerning tourism
in Modena are browsable with information about the authors (80 works in
total, 5 from outside Italy)

Deadline:
submission deadline-> 31/7/2003. The prize awarding cermony is scheduled
for the end of October.

Related events:
production of a cd-rom, public ceremony for prizes assignment. During
this ceremony the winning works will be performed on a video screen. An
exhibition and other parallel events are "under construction". All these
events will be performed during the week of the prize awarding ceremony.

Jury:
5 members appointed. Joshua Held (cartoonist and animator of Gino the
Chicken www.my-tv.it) and Han Hoogerbrugge http://www.hoogerbrugge.com
will be among them.
