slightly off topic : question from UK person on a point of French law

Hello,
I hope you will excuse me for not trying to write this question in French; I
am not confident enough of being understood.
My question is : a company would like to use the logos of several different
companies on its own website. At the moment it just lists their names. Do I
need the permission of those other companies?

I am thinking that maybe there is come kind of "fair use" idea in French law
that would allow me to use their logos without getting formal permission.
Thankyou for your patience, and for authoritative answers.
Please do answer in French if you wish, although I can't promise to
understand as my French is not sophisticated.

Cordialement, Fred
Hello, I will make a little diverted answer but which, I think, contributes to answer your interrogation. You can quote a reference of french company only with its agreement since the confidentiality of the trade does not enable you to say for which firms you work. Thus at the same time as you ask the company if you can quote it in your list of references, you ask whether you can put the logo of the firm. Best regards, Fred

Hello Greg,
In any case yes, and in writing. Naming them publicly as your clients should also be supported by a written authorisation.
Fred's answer goes the same direction.
